Hudson River Community Credit Union’s guiding principle is to make life better for our members and the communities we serve. In light of these principles, this week we would like to shine a spotlight on our Glens Falls Branch staff for helping make the donation drive for The Pines at Glens Falls Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation possible.
From March 9 to April 9, HRCCU members generously donated items to directly support The Pines and their residents. Some of the items donated included blankets, books, puzzles, clothing, health care products, cards, and games. Staff also used cash donations to purchase board games, ball caps, and many other items to benefit the residents.
The idea for the drive came about when branch staff were brainstorming unique causes for their next upcoming community drive and recognized the struggle many elderly residents living in nursing homes have faced since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. That is when staff members got the idea to reach out to a nursing home to see how they could help make life better for the residents.
“Some of our team members have friends and family that live at a nursing home, so this felt like a personal group effort to give back to the elderly in our community,” explained Crystal Holcomb, HRCCU Glens Falls Branch Manager. “In my time at HRCCU, this donation drive might be the one of the most successful we have had at an individual branch.”
