Investing in Our Youth: HRCCU Donates $30,000 to the Glens Falls Area Youth Center

At Hudson River Community Credit Union, supporting our community isn’t just something we say—it’s something we do. We’re proud to share that we’ve donated $30,000 to the Glens Falls Area Youth Center (GFAYC) to help expand access to critical programs for local youth.

Making a Meaningful Impact

The Glens Falls Area Youth Center plays a vital role in supporting at-risk youth across Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties. Through a wide range of educational, recreational, and life-skills programs, GFAYC creates a safe and supportive environment where young people can grow, build confidence, and develop essential skills for the future.

This year’s donation will directly support the Center’s free programs, ensuring that children and families—regardless of financial circumstances—have access to opportunities that foster personal development and well-being.

Supporting Health, Wellness, and Basic Needs

A portion of the funding will go toward GFAYC’s Health and Wellness Program, which focuses on physical activity, emotional well-being, and mentorship. These programs are designed to help youth build resilience, learn valuable life skills, and form positive connections.

In addition, the donation will help:

  • Sustain the Center’s food program
  • Provide essential hygiene supplies to families in need
  • Maintain and enhance recreational equipment within the facility

These resources are critical in helping the Youth Center continue its mission of serving the whole child—mind, body, and spirit.

Our partnership with GFAYC reflects HRCCU’s long-standing commitment to strengthening the communities we serve. As our CEO Sue Commanda shared, supporting high-impact youth organizations ensures that all families have access to programs that create opportunity and inspire growth.

A Decade of Giving Back

Over the past ten years, HRCCU has contributed more than $350,000 to youth-focused organizations throughout the Capital Region. In addition to our continued support of GFAYC, we’ve partnered with organizations like the Saratoga Regional YMCA Corinth Branch, the Cohoes Community Center, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area to help expand access to meals, equipment, and enrichment programs.
