At Hudson River Community Credit Union (HRCCU), we’re committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and create lasting impact for local families. That’s why we’re proud to announce a $2,000 donation to the Town of Lake Luzerne in support of the new Lake Luzerne Destination Playground at Butler Park.
This exciting community project is being designed under the principles of Universal Design, ensuring a fully inclusive, accessible space where children of all abilities can play, learn, and grow together. The playground will feature a variety of sensory-rich elements and interconnected play equipment that encourage imaginative and equitable play for every child.
“Play is essential to childhood development, and we’re honored to support a project that fosters creativity, imagination, and inclusion for children in our community,” said Sue Commanda, CEO of HRCCU. “This new playground will be a destination where all families feel welcome and every child has the opportunity to thrive.”
With a total project budget of approximately $220,800, the Town of Lake Luzerne took a major step forward in the summer of 2024 by securing a $125,000 Adirondack Park Smart Growth Grant. The remaining funds—just over $95,000—are being raised through grassroots fundraising, community partnerships, and generous donations from organizations like HRCCU.

The community came together to celebrate the official groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, October 3, where HRCCU presented its donation and joined other supporters in turning the first shovels of soil. The event highlighted the dedication and generosity of everyone working to bring this special place to life.
